Be Fearless

Lately I've been auditioning for roles that would usually scare me. I would think "There's no way I'm getting this" and talk myself out of even auditioning. I usually shy away from sexy roles but auditioned for a role as a temptress. I had so much fun doing the audition. I may not get the role but I'm glad I didn't back out. In the future, I plan to try out for other challenging roles I wouldn't normally do.

The Longest Ride Ever Trailer

I had a small, but funny role in this comedy. There are so many talented actors from the Houston area in this upcoming movie. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Recognizing my season

Sometimes I think I should be further along in my acting career. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy that I’ve booked some acting gigs. Working with two great talent agencies have helped immensely. But sometimes I feel that I should be doing more. For example, when I didn’t get the lead part and instead do background (yes, I still do paid and unpaid extra work from time to time). I look at these times as an opportunity to learn. When I’m on the set and I’m not being used, I observe the lead actors. I also train like crazy by attending acting classes and doing private coaching.

Recently, I wrote down some of my accomplishments and was amazed. I’m doing better than I did in North Carolina, especially when I was working a full-time job and didn’t have time to even go to auditions during the week. Other times, if I got an audition I wouldn’t have the gas to make the two-hour, sometimes three-hour drive. It’s been a sacrifice, but not working full time has given me the time to drive to auditions without a problem. I just live frugally and make sure I budget for future auditions.

Though it is difficult, I try to cut back on social media so I won’t compare myself to other actors. I know we are all on our own journeys but sometimes it seems easier for other actors to land roles. So for now, I alternate between seasons of planting and watering so I will be prepared for the harvest!

The Saga

I played a villager in a movie called "The Saga," which is set in a post-apocalyptic world.

The Candidate

I was happy to stay in Houston to film scenes for the political thriller, The Candidate. Most of the films with big names are usually shot in Austin or Dallas. Between filming I spoke briefly with actors Eric Roberts and Anthony Ray Parker.  I love my life!

The Street Cleaner

I volunteered to help raise funds for an upcoming movie called "The Street Cleaner." This movie will bring awareness/help put an end to human trafficking.
